CSAM attends 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS)

The 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was organized from 4 to 9 September 2020 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. CSAM’s Deputy Head, Mr. Anshuman Varma, attended the ‘Global Trade in Services Summit’ organized at the commencement of the Fair on 4 September, as part of the delegation from the United Nations Country Team in China. During the Summit, video remarks highlighting the importance of trade in services were delivered by the President of China, President of Argentina, Prime Minister of Thailand, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Director General of the World Health Organization, Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organization.

On 7th September 2020, Mr. Marco Silvestri, Programme Officer of CSAM, attended the “International Forum for Development and Investment of Modern Supply Chain of Food” during 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and delivered remarks on behalf of CSAM.

It was highlighted that “CSAM looks forward to continue partnering with all institutions and agencies present today to ‘Build Back Better’ the post-Covid world and to work together towards food security in the region meeting the aspiration of the 2030 Agenda of leaving no one behind.”

Themed "Global Services, Shared Prosperity", the 2020 CIFTIS featured 8 thematic exhibitions including cultural services, financial services, winter sports, tourism and travel-related services, education services, sports services, service robots and 5G communication services that were held both online and offline. The six-day Fair involved a total of 18,000 enterprises and institutions from 148 countries and regions and received 100,000 registrations. As a key global Fair for promoting trade in services organized in China, it seeks to share innovative ideas, share business opportunities and promote development in the manufacturing and service industries.
