
On 16 October 2025, on the occasion of the International World Food Day, the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), together with the China country offices of FAO and WFP, opened the ‘2025 Belt and Road International Agricultural Equipment and Smart Agricultural Technology Innovation Conference’ hosted by China Agricultural University alongside the celebrations for its 120 years anniversary. The event was co-organized by the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University; the "Belt and Road" International Agricultural Equipment Industry and Smart Agriculture Science and Technology Innovation Institute; and the Agricultural Mechanization Branch of the Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery, with support from the China Agricultural Mechanization Association; the China Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers; and the China Agricultural Machinery Distribution Association.
The event also was the occasion for the unveiling of the China-Brazil Joint Laboratory on Mechanization and AI for Family Farming, and for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding of the College of Engineering of CAU with CSAM’s partners of the Faculty of Engineering at Kamphaeng Saen Campus of Kasetsart University, Thailand. CSAM and several stakeholders had visited the Kasetsart University / China Agricultural University Machinery Training and Maintenance Center and Demonstration Base in Kamphaeng Saen in July alongside the launch of CSAM’s Inception Workshop for the Pilot Project on Agricultural Mechanization for Sustainable Reduction of Rice Straw and Sugarcane Trash Burning in Thailand.
