The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) participated in the opening ceremony of the China Agricultural Machinery Exhibition 2023 and an award ceremony for agricultural machinery cooperatives held in Zhumadian in China’s Henan province on 18 March 2023.
The China Agricultural Machinery Exhibition 2023 was co-organized by the China Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers, China Agricultural Mechanization Association, and China Agricultural Machinery Distribution Association who are members of CSAM’s networking initiative titled ‘Regional Council of Agricultural Machinery Associations in Asia and the Pacific’ (ReCAMA) which seeks to engage private sector associations in inclusive and sustainable agricultural mechanization for attainment of the related Sustainable Development Goals. The Exhibition was also supported by the Zhumadian Municipal People’s Government.
During the Exhibition, the China Agricultural Mechanization Association and the China Agricultural Mechanization Herald organized an award ceremony to recognize twenty representatives of agricultural machinery cooperatives with the aim of promoting agricultural mechanization, rural entrepreneurship and rural development. Mr. Anshuman Varma, Deputy Head of CSAM, joined other delegates to present awards to the winners who included five women representatives.
