The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in collaboration with the China Agricultural Machinery Distribution Association (CAMDA), organized a Machinery Donation Ceremony as part the Inception Workshop for the Pilot Project on Agricultural Mechanization for Sustainable Reduction of Rice Straw and Sugarcane Trash Burning in Thailand alongside the CIAME Asia 2025 – Thailand International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition on 24 July in Bangkok, Thailand.

The ceremony marked a significant contribution to CSAM’s Pilot Project on Agricultural Mechanization for Sustainable Reduction of Rice Straw and Sugarcane Trash Burning in Ratchaburi Province, Thailand. The donated machinery will empower local farmers with advanced, eco-friendly solutions to reduce open-field burning — a critical step toward sustainable agriculture and cleaner air in Thailand. Two Chinese agricultural machinery manufacturers stepped forward to support the initiative. Shandong UNIA Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd. donated a fertilizer spreader and a round baler, which will enhance efficient straw management and nutrient distribution. Kunming Yunnei Power Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. provided two mini tillers, supporting small-scale farmers in adopting mechanized practices.

The donations were presented to Dr. Phatchayaphon Meunchang, Deputy Director General, Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, representing the pilot project. CAMDA and CSAM presented Appreciation Certificates to the companies in recognition of their contribution and commitment to support the sustainable farming in Thailand.
