Beijng, China, the Training on Agricultural Mechanization for Korean Academy of Agricultural Sciences (KAAS) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was opened on 1st April 2015. The Training is conducted in collaboration with China Agricultural University with financial support of ESCAP.
Mr. Zhao Bing, Head of the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), addressed at the opening. He was joined by Ms. Han Lujia, Dean of the College of Engineering of CAU; Mr. Hu Leming, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Mechanization of the Ministry of Agriculture of China (MOA); Mr. Yun Tongchun, Counsellor of the Embassy of DPRK in China, and participant representative, Mr. Choe Chol Ho, Senior official of KAAS.
Tailored to the specific need of DPRK, the training is aimed to enhance the awareness, knowledge and capacity of the participants from DPRK in promoting agricultural mechanization development in DPRK. The training covers lectures on strategies, policy and technical aspects of agricultural mechanization. Field trips and visits will also be organized to reinforce and enrich the learning experience, including a tour to an agricultural machinery expo, visits to manufacturers of agricultural machinery and cooperatives. The three-week training course is expected to last until 20th April 2015.
