Training Organized under Pilot Project on Integrated Straw Management in China

From 28th-29th April, 2022, a Training under the CSAM-China Agricultural University Pilot Project on Integrated Straw Management in China was held at the Qingdao Zhitao Agricultural Machinery Specialized Cooperative in Laixi City of Shandong Province. The training consisted of both classroom lectures and a field visit to the pilot site. More than 60 local farmers attended the training. 

Dr. Weizhen Tong, from China Agricultural University, presented about the integrated straw management approaches and equipments for using straw as fertilizer, fodder, biogas production and mushroom growing. Prof. Shuwen Li, from Qingdao Agricultural University, introduced a highly productive and efficient cultivation method for edible mushrooms. Mr. Jiang Angang, an agronomist from Laixi Qi-ji Mushroom Co., LTD., shared information about the process for production of mushroom base material, including the preparation of straw, fermentation, packaging, application methods as well as mushroom marketing. 

During the field visit to the pilot site, Mr. Ge Tongyan, Director of Laixi Administration of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, showed to the participants the pilot’s wheat field and mushroom growing facilities at the Qingdao Zhitao Agricultural Machinery Specialized Cooperative.
