Two senior APCAEM representatives visited Nanjing and Hangzhou from 19-20 June 2007, as part of the Centre’s effort to build a partnership with related research institutions and universities in the host country, and to seek opportunities for cooperation.

The APCAEM representatives visited the Nanjing Research Institute for Agricultural Mechanization (NRIAM), an affiliate of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science (CAAS). They also paid a visit to the Nanjing Agricultural University, a leading institution in the nation specializing in plant genetics. In Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, they visited a field demonstration site where “jian she xin nong cun” (New Countryside Movement) has earned a significant achievement through the development of agro-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They also paid a visit to the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department of Zhejiang University, for potential collaboration in the future.
